How it works
Each panel plus one post takes up a fixed length of fence. The calculator divides your fence length (minus the first post) by that span and rounds up, so the last panel may need trimming. A straight run needs one more post than it has panels.
Example
With fence length 15 m, panel width: 1.83 m (6 ft panel), post width 100 mm, bags of postcrete per post 2, gravel boards: yes, one per panel, the answer is 8 panels.
Tips before you buy
- Check where your boundary is, and any height limits, before you build.
- Corners and gates each need an extra post. Work out each straight run separately and add them.
- Concrete or timber gravel boards keep the bottom of the panels off wet ground, so they last longer.
