How it works

Lawn area is length × width. The calculator adds a trimming allowance for cutting around beds, paths and curves, then divides by the area of one roll and rounds up.

Example

With lawn length 8 m, lawn width 5 m, extra for trimming 5%, area per roll 1 m², the answer is 42 rolls.

Tips before you buy

  • Lay turf the day it arrives. Rolled turf heats up and starts to yellow within a day or two in warm weather.
  • Stagger the joins like brickwork and butt the rolls tightly together without stretching them.
  • Water straight after laying, then keep it moist until the roots take, usually two to three weeks.

How much extra turf should I order?
